In pre-revolutionary France, "prode femmes" were proud, wise, virtuous women. It was a respectful and flattering term. By the time "prude" showed up in the English language in the early 1700s, however, there was nothing kind about it anymore.Women, it turned out, could be TOO wise, too proper--for men's liking, at least, especially if it meant they weren't interested in sex.
"Prude" has been used ever since--not just in English but German and French too--against people perceived as uptight, usually women with proper manners or conservative ideas about sex (although now men are called "prudes" too).
Modern-day "prudes" also come in the form of government officials or activists campaigning against premarital sex, pornography, prostitution or homosexuality.
I think everyone can have their own personal outlook on being "prude" as being bad. BUT in my opionion, girls should be able to decide how far they want to go sexually with any guy.
Ive been called prude before, but thats MY decision to not get sexual with a guy.

Sex shouldn't be looked at in such a negative way. To each is own. If you want to have casual sex then by all means help yourself. If you're not that interested in sex then please don't do it to please someone else. And if you're one of the people who aren't that interested in sex, don't judge the people who like it and vice-versa. To put it in a nutshell......mind ya business!!

Well i totally respect myself because i want to do wat God says and to avoid taking care of a baby and constantly going to OB/GYNs to see how bad my STD is. That's why im abstinent.

Okay so I am always called a prude. It is really annoying. I am even called a prude by other girls and guys who, as it seams, have no interest in me. And like as you can see I am a prep so not all preps are sluts. So if someone could please help me like with not being called a prude but not wanting do trash my dignity.

when i was in 8th grade i was called prude cause i didn't have a boyfriend. It bothered at first i guess but then i thought about the kids at school who were only going out and making out to "fit in". (they were probably grossed out by sex anyways)

I'm 15 & have been with my boyfriend since early September.
I know I love him, and he loves me.
So when sex came up, I was releaved to know he'd wait for me.
He's not calling me a prude about it.
Just be yourself, if you don't want to do something, walk away.
No boy is worth the stress of sex.
When you're ready, then you can be okay with your choices.
The term prude can be ugly, but if you own it, then they have nothing on you.
I'm 15 & still a virgin.
And I plan to be that way for a little bit longer.
I'm not ready, and that's okay.
=]

sooo...
my boyfriend like jokingly calls me a prude all of the time...
its just bc i wont do anything like sexual with him.
but we've only been dating for 3 weeks anyways. and i kinda wanna wait to have sex until i get married.
and then theres other stuff that i HAVE done in the past thats sexual.. bt i dont want to at this moment and im considering my morals a bit.
but i honestly dont think im a prude. i think that if u feel its right for u to have sex go ahead. it doesnt make u a horrible person or a slut just bc u have sex.
soo... im not like.... ew sex.
i just have morals that keep me from it.
but im not a prude.
i dont think im better than anyone else for it..

oooohhh, i got called prude all 7th and 8th grade. and the first couple months of mee being a freshman, but im not anymore.
i think it means
PRUDE - havent had first "hookup, get with" kiss

so,
i think that you can not have sex, and not be a prude. i mean sex in any sense, intercourse or oral. you could want to. or you could think its a good idea but not for you. the whole concept of a prude is wack.
be comfortable with the concept of sex.

I think that i am the ultimate prude. I am nineteen and just got my first kiss. I have never had a boyfriend and never been on a date. I dont believe in sex before marriage and dont like to hear other peoples sex stories or anything of that nature. I think that being a prude is a great thing. I dont have to worry about getting pregnant or getting an std. Being a prude just means, to me at least, that you are a person of high outstanding morals that are going to get you far in life. Who doesnt want to be the person that no one has any dirt on.

okay, being a prude is NOT a bad thing, im almost 15 and i've only kissed one boy, to me the defenition of a prude is someone who has never french kissed, so TECHNICALLY i am not a prude, but i still kind of am...? i dont know.. but whatever i dont think being a "prude" is bad, at least you dont have gonerrreah right?

Somtimes being a prude is deffinately a way to go. I am a bit of a prude my self and I do have a couple of conservative ideas and belifes about sex. If your not a prude well I guess it is only apparent you MAY HAVE an S.T.D or your not assertive, gave into sex and you have found out your PREGNATE. GOOD LUCK with those itchy herpies and that baby crying all the damn time.

My friend called me prude once it sort of bothered me but it doesn't now. Im not ashamed of it i was raised to be a lady. And i can have fun without having sex. So being prude isn't a bad thing to me
Posted by: ashley | July 06, 2008 at 11:53 PM
I think I'm a prude, because the thought of sex DISGUSTS ME!!!
Posted by: AmorMJ | June 14, 2008 at 11:03 AM
I guess I'm a little prudish, because I don't want to have sex before I get married (or at least am in a very committed relationship) but in the long run, that's not a bad thing. Less risk of STDs and unwanted pregnancies and stuff.
