"Freak!" is not really what you want to hear when you're trying to blend into a crowd. But for someone interested in being unique, it can be a compliment.Starting in the early 1800s, freak shows were a popular form of entertainment that literally involved putting weirdness on display. People who had extreme medical conditions--obesity, dwarfism, hairiness--could work in freak shows while people paid money to gawk at them.
In the 1970s, the dance music hit "Le Freak" helped launch the disco craze, but also poked fun at the over-the-top devotion of nightclubbers.
Being called a "music freak" or a "computer freak" has a certain charm because the idea is that while you may be abnormally passionate about one special thing, you're probably very good at it. Like "Jesus freak," however, it also might contain a subtle putdown about being so fervent about something.
If you are not any of those kinds of freaks, maybe you are an average angsty teen like the TV kids on "Freaks and Geeks." Or maybe your freakiness just flares up once in a while without warning, like a freak snowstorm in summer.
No one uses the word freak like that anymore, people just say "you're weird". No one says "you're a freak" to describe a weird person. People call someone a freak when their the sexual, or like sesx. That's the way the word freak is used 2day. No one says freak in terms of being wierd anymore, only when someone is sexual.

Honestly i have never heard of that word in a sexual point of view... and i don't see anything sexual about it. But i think everybody has a freak inside of them and the ones who say they don't are either very ashamed or haven't realized that they were freaks, just like everybody else. Being a freak should never be a bad thing and it's the kind of stereotype that absolutely everybody belongs in. To me, it's not about clothes or style or appearance. You can look perfectly ''normal'' and still be a freak. It's not about some attitude and personality. You can do or say whatever you want it's not really what is going to make you a freak. Some people will do something to stand out (like dressing or acting very eccentrically) because that's what they think being a freak is all about. But it's not. It's about what's deeper inside. It's about being you and only you, not a clone, not a follower, not doing everything you can to fit in one label.

the meaning of that word is becoming more and more just about being a freak like in the sex way.

I dont get how freak got turned into kinky how did that happen? it's like one day all these rappers decided that being a freak was a good thing, Now it never gets used in the orignal way anymore.

I AM A FREAK! The real freak, not "the sex freak". A true freak is an oucast, someone who belongs nowhere, fits no one category (though no one reall does i guess), and differs from others in the respect that they do not comprimise themself and their unique qualities to fit in with a stupid stereotype. In my opinion, "freak" is the stereotype for those who can not be stereotyped, the label for those who will not be labelled. I wear my title of freak.....freakiest freak, if i do say so myself, with intense pride. FREAKS ROCK. HARD. ..........*Intense crescendo of dark-sounding classicalk music sounds.* *high pitched shriek* *A pro-wrestler suddenly apears* "WTF!?!? ROCK HARD IS MYYY ALIAS"*sigh* *maniacal cackling fills the room* *lightening comes from out of nowhere and hits the wrestler, frying him to death* .........................o.0..........oops. oh well. guess it's not anymore.

a freak is someone who's different frm other normal ppl. but everyone's different, so even ppl who r "normal" can't possibly be the same as other "normal" ppl, which means they r actually freaks. therefore, there r no "normal" ppl & we're all freaks. but if we're all freaks, then that would mean being a freak is normal, therefore, ppl who r normal r actually the freaks. but as before, everyone's different, so that means the freaks who r normal r also freaks, & the normal ppl who r actually freaks r normal, which makes them freaks... what sense does that make??? LOL I'M A FREAK!!! XD

I guess I'm kind of a freak- I don't act or dress like other people in my school and stuff. And sometimes, yeah, I wish I was more like other people. But being different is something to be proud of, so I try to flaunt it.

I get called a freak at least three times a day. I am always changing my hair, I am 5'9 and 13, I listen to very... outlandish music, I am a complete computer and history freak, and a TOTAL opinion freak. I scare almost everyone I meet. I come off as very mysterious and as if I've got a lot of things to hgide (and I do) and it just... scares people, I guess. It always leads to people calling me a freak or a "bad girl".

My ex called me a freak because I wasn't trying to brown nose the popular crowd. I was being my own person and not trying to conform to the popular image. He called me a freak. What a loser.

I get called a freak, cause I am my own person. Don't need to do what everyone else wants me to do. I'm myself.
People who call others freaks are followers. People who are doing what everyone else is doing for the fear of being a "freak"
If being a freak is as awesome as how I feel, I love being a freak.

i think its funny dressing like that!and thats true about the old people.they still think it's the 1950's i guess!
Posted by: kelly | February 21, 2008 at 05:54 PM
People call me a freak, because i have my own style and i'm not afraid to say what i mean, even if i insult someone.People at school and on street often say to me freak.I wear whatever i want.I don't care what other people think about me.I sometimes put on a T-shirt with Donald Duck on,a black trousers, belt with spikes,a big heart shaped sunglasses and boots and people always stare at me.It can be pretty much annoying if an old lady come to you and say 'Look at you,you look like a freak.Girls at your age should wear cute skirts and white chemises. What kind of parent do you have,to let you wear whatever you want?'.Yes,that's actually happened to me.I don't feel like a freak.I think i'm completely normal, just a bit different, then most people.
Posted by: Cassie | February 21, 2008 at 02:48 PM
Lol it really all depends you can be like a weird freak, a different freak, or a sexual freak meaning your willing to try just about anything and your all for it. There's nothing wrong with either term.
Posted by: Leslie | February 21, 2008 at 11:03 AM
no.freak means different.thats what i always thought.and if thats really what it means then.....I AM A FREAK AND I AM PROUD!BEING DIFFERENT KICKS ASS!!!
