Andrew Lin
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in Ann Arbor Michigan. I live in Brooklyn now.
What's your "day job"?
I'm a digital typesetter, which is sort of like a graphic designer, minus everything that's cool about being a graphic designer.
Tell us a little about your hobbies, inspirations and favorite artists/comic creators/writers:
I used to have a million hobbies, but then I decided I just wanted to get really good at drawing. So now I just draw. But I'm not getting as good at drawing as I'd like because I also watch a lot of TV.
My favorite comic artist is Guy Davis. Currently he's the artist for the comic B.P.R.D. Check him out. Lately I've been really inspired by the work of Robert McGinnis. He's an illustrator who did mostly painted covers of paperback novels in the '60s and '70s.
What's your work process like? Any interesting trivia?
Drawing is a physical activity. If you want your hand to do what your brain wants it to do you have to practice every day, just like you would practice a sport or a musical instrument. Just because you now the ball goes in the hoop doesn't mean you're going to get it there without lots and lots and lots of practice.
To relate this to my comics, I'd say that my drawing time is split into about 90% practice and 10% actual finished drawing.
How can someone get in touch with you or see more of your work?
You can reach me and see more of my stuff at supermasterpiece.com (which may or may not be in a state of complete disrepair.)
Any last words?
Comics are great! Am I right? Eh?

I love your comics, especially since I hang out with guys a lot and they're kind of my life...it's fun to know their perspective and to know that you're making guys more three-dimensional people for gURLs everywhere.

I loved the comics (comix?) because they reminded me of all my male theatre friends. And how there's always one jock/cool guy per ever group of nerds to validate them. Except, at my school, theatre kids *are* the cool kids!! Or at least, that's how it feels to me.

Can I thank you? You know what, I'll do it anyway. Thank you.
Why am I giving you thanks? Well, because you prove that everything isn't like the media crazy perspective, and you prove that guys aren't all just sex and nothing else.
You prove that guys have SUBSTANCE! YAY!
I thank you because you let girls see the guys view (hence your comics' name) of everything. It's helped me a bunch, and I'm very happy for this. ^^
Thanks again!
