Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in suburban Detroit (Dearborn Heights, MI), got my BFA in photography from the University of Michigan and moved to Los Angeles in 2001 to get my MFA in art from California Institute of the Arts.

I currently live in LA and work as a graphic designer to pay the bills, but I really wish I could spend all my time making art. This includes drawing comics, taking photos with vintage and novelty cameras, collecting stickers, weird toys and foreign candy wrappers.

What's your work process like? Any interesting trivia?
I draw pretty much the same way I did when I was 13, and my subject matter is the same, too: my dorky life. I'm interested in showing how some of the most mundane, seemingly pathetic aspects of life are funny, and let other girls know how similar all our experiences are. No matter how quirky we might be or how awkward we may feel, we're not alone!

Tell us a little about your hobbies, inspirations and favorite artists/comic creators/writers:
My favorite comic artists include Shel Silverstein, Vanessa Davis, Craig Thompson, Phoebe Gloeckner and Aline Kominsky Crumb.

Hey Adriana! I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of your comics. They're so quirky and funny, and I can totally relate to them.

My favorite is "Confessions of a Dork". I actually share 6 out of those 9 confessions (assuming the stuffed rhinoceros can be replaced with an alligator). The only three I didn't fit were the "pick and flick" (I do pick my nose, but I don't flick it cause I'm afraid where it will land) and the two about the boyfriend from when you were 12 (I didn't have a boyfriend until I was 17). But for every other one, I do the same thing! Glad to know I'm not the only one who secretly likes the smell of skunk! ^_~
