Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in West Hartford, CT. I now live in Brooklyn, NY.

Tell us a little about your hobbies, inspirations and favorite artists/comic creators/writers:
I love reading and rock and roll (I've played bass/guitar and sang in the [bands] The Girlymen, Mz. Pakman, Let's Audio and the Saturday Night Things). Also, I love to travel--especially to Tokyo where I studied during college.

My fave authors include Poppy Z. Brite, Alvin Orloff and Martin Millar. My fave cartoonists include Andi Watson, Lynda Barry, Roberta Gregory, Peter Bagge and many more.

What's your work process like? Any interesting trivia?
I was thrilled to win the 2007 Lulu of the Year Award. I created the graphic novel Tough Love: High School Confidential, published by Manic D Press in 2006. I've scripted Powerpuff Girls comics, Simpsons comics, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Josie and the Pussycats, Disney Adventures and comics for Nickelodeon Magazine.

My other creations include Deadsy Cat & Kissy Kitty, Jamie Starr Teen Drag Queen, Dolltopia and Night Club. I'm moved to create comics when I get an idea for a comic that I haven't read yet, but wish I could.

I'd like to use this opportunity to encourage gURL.com readers to follow their bliss. When you have a dream in life, take steps to make it happen. Not everybody is lucky enough to know what they want to do. So if you have a goal, take steps to make it a reality, no matter how far-fetched it may seem. Or maybe you don't know yet, and that's fine, but maybe it's a good time to ponder...What's your dream?
