it really does suck to be caught between to good friends. But, I learned from personal experience, you can find out a lot about them from each other. I mean, if one person does something really rude to the other, and you find out, u may find u no longer want to be friends with that kind of person. Fights can seem horrible, but they will probably help in the long run.

Yeap, that's how it goes. I happen to be the one that hates the other friend in this similar situation but there are more mature ways to handle it. Best to be upfront on your dislike for the other person and just try to treat them with some respect or ignore them I'd say to avoid conflict and hurt the mutual friend even if the one who will remain un-named is a best friend stealer. Argh. Not cool, and to N/A before me you are correct if you get a new friend don't blow off the old ones. (that's what happened the first year of h/s with the mutal friend of mine.)
