Right now I'm hating my roomate, it's been a semester and she hasn't cleaned once. She said she was going to bring her maid, but I have been the only one cleaning. And her cleaning is just to pick up plates or anyhting lke that. Thank god we dont share rooms, just bathroom, living room n kithchen. I thought i had stated on my dorm form I wanted a clean person. Then she brings a friend, and they are just laughing n dont let me sleep.

I love this comic! Everything in it is absolutely true! It's so funny because one of my roommates yells in her sleep too!! I thought I was the only one haha. And I have two roommates in the tiniest dorm room, and even though we don't always get along, they're both there for me, and make me feel like I'm not alone. And they have gotten me food when I was sick....roommates truly are a blessing and a curse.

Having had seven roommates in the past three years, I completely understand the complications and fun bparts of having roommates. There are fun nights when everyone's hyper and screaming "Good night, John Boy!" then there's the mess that just keeps creeping into your area...from the complete otherside of the room. I love my single now, but I do admit, sometimes I get just a LITTLE lonely...:)

This was a really interesting comic to me.
I just finished my first semester at college with a roomate for the first time and it was an experience to say the least. I was hoping for all those great things you mentioned (going to the caf, sharing music, having fun) but after the first few months, my roomate and i began to hate each other. She was a complete opposite to myself and we had absolutely nothing in common. O_O She ended up switching rooms at the end of the semester before break, so hopefully i'll have better luck with the next one. lmao.

This makes me think of summer camp. same consept, just on a smaller scale. Room mates go through I cycle it seems.
1)Uber fun. You talk about things like you were sisters.
2)Getting kinda boring. start going to sleep earlier that you would like/want to.
3)God! Just shut up! you try to stay as far away as possible.
4)I love you so much! Are you sure we arent related?! E-mail me like, 20 times a day! Ill miss you.
thats my cycles, put short, the
L.ove B.oring H.ate M.iss cycle. (LBHM)

Fall 2008 was my first semester at college and me and my roomie are best friends. We met at orienatation over the summer and picked each other to be roommates. She's the sister I never had and we do pretty much everything together.

Hmm...so ultimately roommates r friendz....hmm makes u wonder!!
I hv some months den i will move to college, i hope to get a nice roommate! :)

A lot of this is really, really true. Aside from having roommates for the past two years (the first one being awful, the second being a good friend) I'm now an RA and am the person who gets to mediate all the fun arguments.
Posted by: jessica | Jan 09, 2009 at 08:00 PM
Really good comic. This is the second time I'm reading it and it actually makes me more excited about getting a roommate. Foolish, I know. But that's the effect of good storytelling.

lol, i liked this. my roomate now is a slob, complete opposite of me, gives out bad advice. but i have some awesome friends i met in my dorm that keep me grounded, avoid homesickness, and keep me from strangling her. :)
Posted by: Tiffany | Dec 29, 2008 at 05:40 PM
I liked it! my mom said her and her roomate where the only two in the whole dorm that got along! And for a joke they put duct tape on their floor like dividing the room! Thrie still friends!

really cool

its kinda sad i always have such bad roommate karma. I'm a really outgoing, crazy person and i have these subdued quiet roommmates i have nothing in common with. *sigh*

i liked this 1. it was very kute

luvvvv itttt!!!
it gives me a good sense of the future

I think this comic is actually a good way of giving you a reality check about having a roomate in college.
Posted by: iau | Oct 12, 2008 at 09:44 PM
I think this comic was brilliant.
I have never been to college and experienced what you have. but it is still very realistic. i think what you tried to do was warn people that its not all as good as expected.. and so they can prepare themselves and comprimise... Very good. i'd like to read more of your comics!!! :D xxx
Posted by: Jessica | Oct 12, 2008 at 12:43 PM
I would love to have a roommated. I think that would be neat. I just think this comic was POINTLESS and STUPID.
Posted by: none | Sep 28, 2008 at 01:58 PM
i thought this was good... these thngs really can b true i know: i know i have a roommate now i am at college.
Posted by: anah | Sep 13, 2008 at 09:13 PM
I THINK NTHAT THIS WAS STUPID!
Posted by: SH3ASH3A | Sep 13, 2008 at 03:54 PM
I REALLY THINK THAT THIS COMIX WAS STUPID!!!!!!!!1LOL YOU NO!
Posted by: SH3ASH3A | Sep 13, 2008 at 03:53 PM
Thanks for the memories! One roommate is occasionally awkward. Four is downright invasive. Oh, yes, I have had to live in a quint. Five girls, one room. Makes you realize it doesn't matter so much who or what you live with so long as there is only one other of them in the room. :D

I just started college a few days ago. Like the girls in the comic, I sort of expected a "custom-ordered friend"- we're both vegetarians, non-drinkers and Nirvana fans- and although we do stuff together and get along fine, we're not really the insta-best friends I anticipated. (That's not to say we aren't friends; just not the "joined-at-the-hip-discussing-the-meaning-of-life-til-3-in-the-morning" type!) I haven't quite gotten over the awkwardness of actually living with someone else yet (heck, I haven't even shared a *bathroom* since 3rd grade) but hopefully that will wear off. Anyway, thanks for making this comic!
Fun fact: My room number is also #724. What are the odds, heh.

I did not suffer ANY whithdrawl from the people I lived with. They're nice, but NOT my kind of people. I am anti-social while they have, like, ten people in the room at any given time. But the comic was good and I think pretty accurate on the roommate thing.

Awe, thanks for this comic! I like knowing what to expect when I go to college next year. :O

i didn expect it like that i thought it would be like sex or smething
Posted by: Khalida | Aug 17, 2008 at 07:35 PM
i think the writer of this comic should really go back to art school cuz my little brother draws better than the artist, and he's 8....the story was...okay, but the art was terrible...

I have to say that I had a roommate last year and it was an experience to say the least. I roomed with someone I knew in highschool, so our year together was a love hate relationship, with more ups though than downs. Let's just say that you learn a lot about a person from living with them, perhaps you stay better friends with them if you don't live with them though.

This was really cool to read short, sweet and to the point, really nice!
Posted by: Mary | Aug 16, 2008 at 06:14 PM
I loved this comic! It makes me even more anxious to go off to dorm living next year. Thank you, Amy Marie
Posted by: Arienette | Aug 16, 2008 at 01:23 PM
i move in to dorm room in less then a week...and this just made me laugh, i will have to see if this is true for me.
Posted by: Katie | Aug 16, 2008 at 09:53 AM
very true, except for the end. I woke up one weekend to my roommate HAVING SEX with her deadbeat boyfriend 5 feet away. because that is how small the rooms are after all. i think it's one of the things ill have to repress. I moved out to a whole new dorm within the next couple weeks and when we see each other on campus we just mutually ignore each other.
the girl i moved in with after that was awesome though... hahaha.

thank you for making this comic, amy. i'm about to leave for college in 3 days and i have no idea who my roommate is. this is so real... i mean, i keep hearing people talk about how AWESOME their roomie is and how much they love them, etc, but this comic breaks down the situation: i'm going to be living with a strange and maybe we'll be bffs, but realistically, that might not happen. anyway, thanks again, great comic!

man that was so good i loved it! that comic book it was off the hook 1111
Posted by: asia | Aug 15, 2008 at 07:19 PM
oh god. im actually, currently goin tru DIZ!. WELL, not reli but my friendship wit my roomie ended like 2 weeks back whom was also my close fwen as well and now we don even talk at all tho we still hav eac other on our frienster list n i still wonder why?!... sigh. i guess some things r jus not meant to be uh?. she was my senior. both of us had single rooms for ourselves. till we had some major turnin point in our personal lifez n we jus happen 2 b ther 4 eac other, so thought of movin in.. but she was so like me, hyper crazy fun goin.... but oni after bein her roomie, i figured out certain characters of hers wic i totally cudnt stand for. i believe to reli know someone, u've gotta b nex to dem. we oni moved in for 2 months, and da nex thing u know, we plan to go in separate ways n worst comes to worst we r already not talkin no more.... it sucks tho. cos i guess i wud rather be her fwen den her roomie n end tings jus like dat. it wasnt big arguments dat lead to da end of our fwenship, jus very tiny misunderstandings n yes often take eac other for granted in da name of FRENSHIP. =) but it was hell of a xperience tho. wateva happens, im ready to take in another roomie but a junior tiz time! since ive learnt, from ther i know how to handle things better ;)

Just wait until Marriage!!
Posted by: Bri | Aug 15, 2008 at 04:55 PM
I had a bad experience when one of my friends and I roomed together. We found out that we really got on each others nerves a lot, and now we don't even talk anymore. Not to mention that it made our time less enjoyable. I personally think that single rooms are the way to go. Then you don't have to worry about meeting someone new and you still can have your own space!

OMG i can't wait to go to collage! even though its like, 16 years away, still im excited!
Posted by: Elise | Aug 15, 2008 at 03:18 PM
Ah, I think I might want to have two roomates. That way I'll have more of a chance to be friends with at least one of them...
Great comic!
