AAGGGHHHHH......WHAT A F* WASTE OF MUY TIME!!
Posted by: NANA | Feb 05, 2009 at 02:54 AM
It's a cute comic, and I like to see the boys point of view. But it could be a lot better...Like showing the situations instead of the narrator, and going further on how the mind of a boy works.
Posted by: ebele | Feb 04, 2009 at 11:27 PM
Very cute!! I love all the comix with a boy's point of view, they're soo fun!
Posted by: Chanel | Jul 12, 2008 at 02:52 PM
Fourteen panels made it a long comic, but it was nice.

Box(cool name by the way!), don't take any of the rude comments seriously. We all know only complete idiots take THEIR time just to tear other people down. I(emphasis on the "I") though it was very cute! I love your syle, it is alsolutly adorable and the plotline was intersting, although I DO wish you would have shown the story instead of telling it. Even so, I liked it! :-D Keep on drawin'!!!
Much Love,
Terra

this comic is short and stupid

cute. it had a great message! i love your style! keep it up!

very sweet! nice style! also nice to see some male comic artists on here :)
Posted by: amy_marie | Apr 12, 2008 at 12:22 AM
very cute and quite soothing realy I feel relaxed and more wordly all of a sudden
Posted by: rosewatermemdhi | Apr 08, 2008 at 12:40 AM
oops i noticed my typo in my last comment.
btw, Joe K don't take comics so seriously. Please criticize the comic itself instead of attacking the artist , overreacting, & reading too much into his statements. Besides, most comics are from one point of view anyway and readers seem to like the comics posted from a boy's perspective as long as it relates to women's issues. (Ex. dating and emotional changes, obviously)
Posted by: Tati | Mar 29, 2008 at 04:38 AM
Although I like the style, I wish he would've gotten more creative with the illustrations (example: show the actual scenes instead of the kid telling the story the most of the time)
Posted by: Tati | Mar 29, 2008 at 04:31 AM
Ah, Joe K...relax, it's just a comic.
Posted by: Allison | Mar 28, 2008 at 05:06 PM
i have to agree with both joe k and stripedcat91.
what is there to gain?
i'd rather read jeffrey brown, and not on this site.
Posted by: roop | Mar 27, 2008 at 07:51 PM
Its been said, but there's always room for 'guy comics' on a 'girls' site. Its about equality, not gender-exclusiveness (I do hope that's a real word...)and it would be a bit silly if you were only able to see something from your own gender's point of view. What would you LEARN???
I think the art on this comic is super-cute (draw more please), but it would be cool if there was more variety in what we get to see and not just the narrator talking, it got a bit repetitive. The message was good, though, about how it takes two to make a relationship work. And yeah,1-player games suck!
Posted by: our katy | Mar 22, 2008 at 06:01 PM
Hey, I'm a girl and I too wished I had a boyfriend who I could just chill with and play video games. I'm pretty sure brown is not COMPARING girls to video games, if he was trying to be sexiest then he would probably say girls couldn't play video games or something like that.
And I know that this is a girl website, but if a 'sensitive' guy wants to contribute then why not? Aren't WE being kinda sexiest if we reject and put down this fellow artist trying to express himself?
Whatever, I just don't get why SOME people dis him. But I liked this comic and thought it was adorable [and the guy was kinda wimpy, but whatever, added to the cuteness :)].
Posted by: jfo | Mar 22, 2008 at 12:31 AM
I liked it ^-^ its so cute and i love the simpleness of it. And the funny thing about this is that I know a guy thats in this situation, but he's really desprate and not as adorrible as the lil guy in the comix XD
Posted by: Kirstin | Mar 21, 2008 at 03:26 PM
HEY everyone! I don't this this is sexist AT ALL! I think "finding someone to play video games with" is a cute and clever metaphor for finding a gf/bf with similar interests. Clearly this is about how it's hard for everyone to figure out what they're looking for in a gf/bf, especially when you're young and don't have a lot of experience dating! Isn't te whole point of this strip to show that boys are kinda clueless in this department too?
I think this comic is formatted weird. It's hard to read and enjoy the whole story when you can only see two panels at a time. Try changing this next time! Maybe it'll help!
Also, I agree with bridie! Check out Box's other comic, bellen! You will not be disappointed: www.boxbrown.com

I think it was a cute comic, but I was disappointed. He only TOLD the story, but he didn't SHOW it, which is what makes a comic memorable. I saw panel after panel of a guy character just standing there, saying only one or two sentences per panel. Why not write it down as an illustrated essay? Why bother making a comic if you're not going to USE the medium. Show us a picture of the girl you were dating or the both of you playing video games. It would have made the story way better in my opinion :)
Lastly, the theme of "the boy's perspective" I feel has already been masterfully covered by Andrew Lin. Why so many boy comics on a girl's site? Where are the new girl comickers?
Mr. Brown, I look forward to seeing what new comics you come up with in the future. Your style is unique and accessible, your stories have heart. But I wanted to see more of the story in the comic. We have radio and prose for plain dialog. Abuse comics for all they're worth, man!

u lame ass
Posted by: Becky | Mar 21, 2008 at 12:23 AM
DUDE I love your style! It's so sweet and adorable! Not to mention what you say rings true. You know a relationship is good when you feel like you give too much to a person. ^__^ Nice to see another guy on gurl.com!
Posted by: Tiffany | Mar 20, 2008 at 11:56 PM
You guys are all weird...
I liked this comic and if you want to see what this guy can really do, you should check out bellen, it's totally awesome :D

OMG Joe K !
why can't u just read the comic and get the actual meaning a$$hole!
this guy did a great job and deserves some complanents not critisism thats the last thing he wants!!!!!!!!!
GREAT JOB DUDE LOVE THE COMICS AND WANT MORE :)

Joe K does NOT "need to chill out". Gurl tries so hard to empower teen girls, yet the 13 and 14 year olds who go on this website are still totally oblivious to that fact. Equating a girl with a video game is not "adorable" Puppies are adorable, not sexism.
Girls are not commodities or distractions. They have feelings, and I am glad Box learned that (let's hope he did, anyway). Gurl readers should learn that too.

Joe K - you are a complete a$$hole. box brown made a meaningful comic with a great message and you sh*t on it.
You are the one that needs a little introspection, sir.
Posted by: da_frank | Mar 20, 2008 at 08:37 AM
First of all, it's "A lot", not alot.
Second, this comic is 100% self-absorbed. The girl's feelings and point of view are completely absent.
Third, "I wasn't lonely or bored." WTF? A girl is no better than a good movie or game then? A good distraction?
Fourth, "If you don't feel like you're giving too much, you're probably not giving enough." That's rubbish. Good relationships are based on equality, communication and trust, not guilt.
Fifth, stop your bloody whinging! The reason all your friends "Paired off" before you is that they have some self-respect and make themselves presentable to the opposite sex. That explains why your first girl was angry and yelly--you have no self-esteem. Grow a pair, lad!
Sixth, and last, why is this on gURL.com?!? Comics "For girls, by girls?" featuring whiny, emo boy comics drawn by emo boys? Fail!
Posted by: Joe K | Mar 20, 2008 at 02:15 AM
Very Cute.
I love the part that says:
I didn't realize that in a relationship if you don't feel like your giving too much you probably arn't giving enough.
Verry good. Keep it up, man! =D

Not only was it comforting to hear it from a guy's point of view but also from someone inexperienced in the world of dating. I look forward to seeing more of your ork :)

Its was super cute, please keep making more and we'll definatly keep reading em.
Posted by: Courtney | Mar 19, 2008 at 02:47 PM
That was super-badass. :3
I like, it, but it could have been a little more interesting if you did more drawings than just you talking and a couple of the girl. XD
But yeah, it was super cool. DO MORE> >:3
