true dat. I started really caring about fashion and all that stuff in 6th grade too and that's when my elementary school started enforcing uniforms. and i'm in 7th grade now and my middle school started enforcing uniforms the same time. actually most of the schools in my county are switching to uniforms. but i thinks its ok becuz no one can judge anyone by how many clothes they have or how cool they are. i only know one high school in my county at the moment that doesn't have uniforms and its one of those science and tech smart schools and has really good athletic teams. and you have to take a test to get in which im SO gonna pass.

So true. Everyday I spend many time starring and thinking in front of my drawer about what I'm gonna wear today.
Don't get me wrong. I love fashion and I know my style. but, if I buy every fashion item I love everyweek or so, I'll spend all my salary.
Posted by: apple_juice8 | Mar 13, 2009 at 10:48 AM
I make some clothes, and buy some, but I try to to follow my heart in matters of fashion. If I like it, its good enough for me.
I remember my first fashion dilemna (when I realized that people were supposed to dress a certain way.) In 6th grade, so sad.
Posted by: Elle | Mar 09, 2009 at 03:21 PM
hah! I've constantly evolved too. now I just make my own clothes.
Posted by: ivy | Mar 09, 2009 at 12:51 AM
She has a point. Girls spend so much time trying to look "sexy". This usually means emptying out your entire wallet on one pair of jeans and maybe(if you're lucky) a tissue paper thin shirt about two sizes too small. In this case, I hate being a girl.

BAAAAHHH MAKE THAT FASHION LINE! :O

Great comic!!! Very true!
Posted by: ebele | Feb 15, 2009 at 08:57 PM
I myself have never really understood fashion. I've gone with the classic black t-shirt and jeans things for three years now... Ha, but my friends are a different story.
Awesome comic, it's definitely true... for some people anyway :)
Posted by: Ann | Oct 25, 2008 at 06:20 PM
this was sooo funny!! and very true about the whole before we know our names thing. n i think that although ppl might bitch about omg i hate it when ppl try too hard 2 dress hot on the other hand when ppl try 2 comform themselves to a label thats trying too hard also,(when she was trying 2 dress like a rebel and trying 2 hard not to care). i think fashion is all about balance really. u get stuff from all different places and combine it to make what u like.
Posted by: sydney | Oct 24, 2008 at 05:22 PM
i change my style everyday.
in fact, last year i would be a different "stereotype" everyday.
it was fun, but the best part....
it confused people :D
Posted by: G | Sep 10, 2008 at 05:47 PM
wow really cool comic!
Posted by: Bookish.Spazz | Aug 03, 2008 at 10:50 PM
i really don't have a "fashion" i just wear what i have....which isn't much. and my mom gets almost ALL my clothes at the thrift store. so i don't wear "trendy" clothes. anyway. LOVE THE COMIC!
Posted by: izzy | Aug 03, 2008 at 07:22 PM
the begining was soo funny and true we are born into the world totally naked. and before we know our name we have cloths on. that was a funny comic.
Posted by: victoria | Aug 02, 2008 at 01:25 PM
Haha.
Great comic.
You are forgetting one thing though-although it is the labels that comes with clothing are irritating, all humans naturally judge people.
Even those who say they don't do.
It is completely natural.

Posted by: .Nene | Jun 06, 2008 at 08:50 PM
HA! this comic was so funny :) i know exactly where you're coming from - i've considered becoming a nudist after wanting to give up on fashion all together (then i realised i would rather jump off a cliff than get naked in public)
you've got an awesome drawing style there btw.
Posted by: hannah | Jun 06, 2008 at 04:55 PM
Lol. This Really Did Make Some Kind Of Statement..My Favorite Part Was When She Was Like "I Became a Nudist" lol.
It Was Sad Though How She Had Her Mom Sew "Expensive Name Tags" On Her Clothes.
Posted by: KJ | May 15, 2008 at 08:24 PM
oh so sad
lol just kidding i bet that outfit would look really cute in real life
i would seriously wear that cuz i think its in style now
and that flirty outfot girl.....they allow skirts to be that tiny in there school???
dran them lol nice comic!

I loved this commic. Kinda the same way i feel..
Posted by: Idi | May 14, 2008 at 02:07 PM
Wow. I love this comic. That's pretty much my life. Except to be honst, I never tried to dress 'to look hot' ro whatever. I'll just wear anything really, as long as it's comfortable and cheap. Someones people are like, "wow, I love that outfit," and sometimes I get, "You look like a hobo." Eh, who cares. It's my body anyway.
And that nudist part cracked me up. (Thumbs up)

I LOVE THIS COMIC!It shows how superficial ppl today are. I'm happy being me and anyone who doesn't like it Can go to hell! Thats how live I don't care what ppl think or how they able me, because I'm me and thats all I am.
Posted by: Maz | Feb 16, 2008 at 01:42 PM
Wow, the thing is, my friends are superficial, I'm pretty much the only one with a personality who doesn't need to shop at top brand shops to look 'good'.
I'd happily shop from wal-mart and thrift stores and some of the stuff is quite fashionable. I mean, one of my friends came up to me and said "wow, I really like your outfit, where did you get it from?" honestly. She was like, in awe of my fashion sense. But when I told her, she kind of looked disgusted for a bit then said "why?"
Some girls I'll never understand...
Posted by: Hannah | Feb 16, 2008 at 07:37 AM
hehe, I like the nudist idea, er, I meant part. ;P
Posted by: niihn | Feb 15, 2008 at 08:23 PM
I really like this comic, I think it explains fashion pretty well.
I'm pretty sure that my life and many, many others have gone this exact same way— although I don't think my situation was as extreme (i.e. switching labels~).
Thing is, I think everyone wants to be an individual with their clothing, but many times it's just linked back to being attractive.
Although, I was disappointed that gURL doesn't know what emo is. D:

i luv this comic its rly tru clothes r difficult evn whn ur trying not 2 go along with evry1 else, nd evn mor so whn ur parents hav dumped u n2 a skool where u gt wear a UNIFORM wel i mean i dnt go around like a soldier but stil bleh, i gt tuck n, gt hav a belt, gt hv a collared shirt UGH!, but her outfit n the end was cute without conforming 2 how evry1 thiks we should dress nd i lik eher idea of a clothing line altho i wouldnt want ppl dressing like me, i think id pass out lolz neway gr8 comic <3
Posted by: insanityiscute | Feb 04, 2008 at 05:49 PM
wow she went really in depth to this i mean ive thought about this subject before but ive never really had the right words to express it
and i think the best thing to say about fashion is its a way of expressing YOURSELF not how other people express themselvs just wear what you like and i think in the process you'll figure out that it does say something about who you are thats what makes fashion so AWESOME
Posted by: Nobi | Feb 03, 2008 at 06:16 PM
I dress pretty much how I feel, and I feel different all the time, so I tend to wear a variety of clothing from babydoll dresses to hoodies, to like, bell bottoms and goth makeup. My friends never know what I'd wear next and my mom complains that she dosent know what to buy for me xD
I get what you mean in the comic=D Fashion is a very fascist thing, but then again, thats pretty much life =D
Posted by: Alia | Feb 03, 2008 at 02:09 AM
That's pretty much exactly true of me. What's the point on being dressed cool/trendy when everyone else is? I mean...that's kinda boring. So yeh...my fashion sense is a leetle crazy...but it doesn't matter. :) This comic rocks. *thumbs up* I thought I was alone in my strangeness. :)

OK FREAK NICE STYLE NOT................
GOSH UR WEIRD
I HATE THIS COMIC
Posted by: msminna | Feb 01, 2008 at 10:14 PM
wow! so true! I always ended up getting the "in-style" things when they went out of style, so i finally decided those girls could dress them selves with the "fashion" and i would dress myself however tha heck i wanted to! I've tried to get my friends to do this also but three of em are sooo obsessed with either being popular or dressing with the "trends" its like who CARES?!?!?! i certainly dont care how i dress as long as whatever im wearing doesn't have stains, holes and somehow goes with everything else im wearing (but my shoes never match) its really just how you wanna dress, that you should dress (also Barbie is incorrect a girl that out of proportion with her hips, thighs, and boobs is totally unrealistic! I mean we went to a sex ed class that talked about that and he told us that so just don't get your little sister a barbie they arn't good! sorry if i got a little bit off subject!)
Posted by: Jackie | Feb 01, 2008 at 07:02 PM
great message very empowering be who you want to be and if you want to be all about clothes and fashion go for it you want to be different great as long as that is who you want to be not who someone else wants you to be!
Posted by: kaleigh | Feb 01, 2008 at 03:42 PM
The fashion industry is so retarded it's funny, trying to and accomplishing it's goal everytime a
teen develops an eating disorder or kills themselves for not fitting in. its really sad that in this day of age that people are such shallow objects waiting for the approval from the t.v that they don't get from home. it's a sad cruel unforgiving world already. why don't we just deal with that in itself.
Posted by: eli | Feb 01, 2008 at 10:08 AM
I try to make all my clothes. I don't try to follow trends, but every once in a while I'll see one I like and stick with it... I didn't even know "hobo bags" were "out of style" when I bought one, but I really don't care.
Posted by: Holly | Jan 31, 2008 at 10:38 PM
How true is that? the never edning pressue to look fabby-fab, attract hot guys, get good grades, keep BFF's, and make cheerleading. A lot to keep track of! I think we all feel awkward sometimes but fashion is actually very important and CAN tell people about you. this comic is good, yet bad, in different ways.
Posted by: Debby | Jan 31, 2008 at 09:50 PM
if you sold that i'd probably buy it, cuz that's kinda my style too. BUT I'M NOT COPYING ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: jackie! | Jan 31, 2008 at 07:19 PM
Loved this comic! great story, great drawings...and yeah well i think it doesnt hurt sometimes to get out of that "cool" look and really look into yourself and find just the perfect thing to do or wear =]
Posted by: AnaGabz | Jan 31, 2008 at 06:39 PM
funny :)
good too.
i care about what people think, but i don't go out of my way to please anyone.
Posted by: babs | Jan 31, 2008 at 06:00 PM
I like the story and I feel the same way about the fation thing. Even though I haven't found my personal style yet, this proves that you don't have to look like the model to feel beutiful
Posted by: chantelle | Jan 31, 2008 at 05:33 PM
This is the greatest comic ever!
Ok, maybe not soo much, but it pretty much rox cuz heathers story is the exact story that id have to tell about me and my clothes, not even kidding! ^.^
Posted by: Lykorysh | Jan 31, 2008 at 04:52 PM
rachel,a plain black tee, is the same as a plain gray tee, or a plain pink tee, as too a plain white tee. just bcuz your one of those preps and beleave that a what you wear labels you doesnt mean you have to shun black tees. sorry. i labled you. but u were kinda askin for it. this comic is gud and makes a graet statement too. gud job heather
Posted by: simona | Jan 31, 2008 at 03:53 PM
I think a black tee is a very loaded image, not plain at all. You obviously feel the same way because you extracted all those labels from it.
So how about just a plain gray tee shirt?
The only thing that might say is "plain." And it's not if you have accessories that you like.
How about plain white? Plain green?
Black's kind of controversial.

dis was so funni! i have da sam prob real koo 2 relate. i so agree wit da fashion label name!!!
Posted by: jameelat | Jan 29, 2008 at 11:55 AM
I'm not sure I understand exactly why the aspect of clothes resulting in assumptions on the part of other people is such a bad thing. You can express yourself and whatnot..... isn't that something to appreciate?
Posted by: Tara | Jan 28, 2008 at 07:15 PM
I absoulutely love your art. It is so colorful and compared to your other comics, so...mature. Great job.
