I think the girl looked cuter without all the make-up anyways. I rarely wear make-up, and when I do it's usually just lipgloss and maybe light eyeshadow...
Posted by: Nezumi Sohma | Feb 07, 2009 at 02:16 PM
I didn't start wearing makeup until i was 19 and very little at that. Now that i'm 24, i wear even less. I only wear eyeliner and a bit of eyeshadow. I feel alot better when i'm not wearing any at all. I see really young girls wearing loads of makeup, and some look really bad. After a while, the makeup messes up your face. When you take off the stuff, you look really really made. Pale skin, dark circles under you eyes, you look older... not so pretty when your young.
It's just better to feel good about what you look like without all the paint and flashy clothes. Have confidence in yourself and your beauty from within will shine through and you will be beautiful on the inside and out.

The only makeup I like wearing is nail polish, and that is literally it. Even if I'm going somewhere special, I don't were makeup, cause really who cares? Why wear somethign just to fit it? I had a friend who litterally begged me to wear makeup, like I was weird for not wanting to.
I did try mascara twice in middle school though (my friend bought it for me and I got tired of it just sitting in my room). But, honestly, the two times I wore it, no one noticed. And if they did see somethign they told me not to wear it anyway, cause, as they put it, "You already have beautiful long eyelashes. You don't need mascara."
I'm not looking down on people who wear makeup. I'd just rather see people wear it cause they want to, not just because everyone tells you you should.

For me, I just wear eyeliner ^^
unless I have dry lips, then I use chapstick lol ^^
I've said this about fourteen times, but I LOVE the way you draw!!

I totally agree with this comic. I don't wanna sound like a hallmark card, but beauty comesz from within & if you THINK you're ugly & you're really not people will get tired of hearing it & leave you alone. In all my 14 yrsz i have only used make-up once & i am still getting asked like everyday.
PLUS *hint-hint* make-up makesz u look fake & what guy wantsz to taste your NARS Flaming Dust Sheer Cherry lipstick? dont buy it, itsz $24 & the color sux.
I remember the 1 time I did wear make-up, I wasz tryin to get a boyfriend. everyone could tell i wasz wearing it & i ended up washing it all off & getting a date! OH the IRONY! =) much heartsz *di-di*

I love & agree with the comic but I still wear make up but in moderation. But when I was a little girl like in elementary school i would put a lot of lip gloss on & eye shadow on, then sometime when i was in junior high i realized that i was beautiful in my own way & if i needed any i only needed a little.

This is a great comic.
Personally, when it comes to looks I am never confident. I will feel good in the morning, then in the middle of the day I think I abosrbed my make up(I have exczeme, and my skin is like a sponge -_-) and I fell horrible.
Not fun.
xP
lol
I just wear all over foundation.
Posted by: Heath | Jun 16, 2008 at 09:31 PM
I only wear blush, mascara, and eyeshadow for parties and stuff, but I wear lipgloss and paint my nails ALL THE TIME LOL. It just feels comfy for me, I can't help it.
PS, cool comic again Rachel, are you doing more? PLEASE say you are! LOL
PPS, Tuna had nothing to say? LOL

This comic is so true! I wish I could be more confident. Sometimes I wear make-up, and I look in the mirror and think I look good, by then by the middle of the day, I think I look awful. I wish I could have more confindence.

The art in this comic is different from your others. What did you use? I'm guessing felt-tip pens and pencils . . . ?
Posted by: Gracie | Feb 16, 2008 at 12:02 PM
This comic is true. I do wear mascara and a bit of lip gloss sometimes though. But I feel like a clown when I wear to much make up. Anyways I never belived I was pretty untill I was told by someone. And I beilive that make up doesn't make you beautiful. You make yourself beautiful.
Posted by: Amber | Jan 22, 2008 at 05:33 PM
i think some people are being unfair. you shouldnt think less of someone if they wear makeup or if they don't. it doesn't really matter, as long as that person *feels* pretty then who cares?
i actually felt prettier when i started wearing less makeup.
Posted by: carly | Jan 04, 2008 at 02:29 PM
I think this is true. unfortunatly i cant say i dont use make-up. because i do. but i dont use alot. if im just like hangin around the house then i wont put any on. i dont put any on for school. but if its a special occasion or if im just going out with some friends then i will. i like a bit of make-up on if i go to the cinema or something but just eye shadow, mascara, a bit of eye liner on the bottom of my eye, lip gloss, toner instead of foundation and a bit of shimmer powder. The only time i put more make-up on is if i have a dance show. but my cousin (dance teacher) puts it on for us so it always looks ok. but i dont think i look any better with make-up on than without, unless ive been ill then i will look better!

I have no confidence, sadly. My thoughts are usually self-destructive. Sometimes I try to compliment myself but then I feel conceited and end up insulting myself and feeling worse than before. I take modesty to a whole new level of extreme. I wish they had a name for what's wrong with me so I could get some help.
Posted by: Me! | Jan 03, 2008 at 10:42 AM
Sad to say I'm a make-up user to the max. I pour on the eye liner as though my eyesight depended on it. But it's not just to look good...well that is part of it...but it's also like I'm painting. Like I'm making my face into a work of art. When I get time I sometimes do wild things with eyeshadow. But I agree with this statement. Makeup doesn't make the girl...it's all in confidence. Just don't mistake confidence as believing you're better than everyone else. Modesty is nice too! :]

betul 2...x yah pakai makeup...muka dah cantik...saya x pakai makeup pun dah cantik...huahuahua...klu pakai makeup berjam2...buang masa je...

I never wear makeup, I hate being a clone. What's wrong with being yourself?! This comic sends out a great message, if you act confident and talk people notice you and people shouldn't judge on what you look like but what you're personality is. We're all beautiful in our own special way, thank you Rach for spreading the message.

I really enjoyed reading that comic! It was great and taught me a lesson. You don't need makeup to be beautiful, act beautiful. I
totally agree with you.

Rachel is so awesome. I would marry her if I could. VIVA LA REVOLUTION. I love your comics, Rachel!

omg i so agree. this year my makeup has made me feel beautiful, act beautiful, so maybe i am!
Posted by: katy | Dec 19, 2007 at 09:53 PM
that is so true
i can think like that sometimes but now i know it's not true: makeup does not make you look beautiful, if you're truly beautiful makeup is just going to make that beauty stand out
although i still love it( but now it's not for the wrong reasons, lol lol lol )
:D
Posted by: anusca | Dec 19, 2007 at 03:36 PM
this is so true. i used to feel really insecure about my looks, but my confidence has grown ovr the past year, and now i can feel beautiful without any makeup at all. and that is a great feeling!
thank you, rachel! thanks for using something you love to speak to girls all over the word.
we all love you!!!
Posted by: hanna | Dec 18, 2007 at 11:41 PM
wow...
i wear make up every day now because i am ashamed of the way i look. even with the make up i feel ugly. i only wear it to fit in. ll the cool girls wear make up at my school and i have a few more friends now but i've seen some of those girls without make up and they aren't as awesome looking. but the make up just builds up your confidence wearing make up almost made me lose friends too because my old friend thought i was becoming a slut

Wow, this reminds me of a girl I knew. She sat next to me in class, and one day I asked her why she wore so much make up all the time. She answered that she did because she wasn't pretty without it. It made me upset that she would think that.
Posted by: kohakuchan | Dec 16, 2007 at 09:33 PM
this is soo true. I def have to agree, that if you think, and show that you feel beautiful, then you will act beautiful, and others will see you as beautiful. If you tell yourself your beautiful, then you are. If you tell yourself your ugly, then you are. It all depends on you..and it also tells us, that make-up really doesnt make us beautiful, maybe enhances our beauty, but doesnt make us who we are.
Posted by: Krista | Dec 16, 2007 at 07:44 PM
I think that this comic has a point, make-up doesnt make you beautiful, its whats inside that counts! When you think your beautiful, but in a suttle way, people will think your beautiful, but if you think your ugly, people will think your ugly, really, it all depends on you!
Posted by: Izzy | Dec 16, 2007 at 01:35 PM
Pfft. Never go overboard. A little makeup is fine...but that was way too much.
Posted by: Rika Ariyoshi | Dec 16, 2007 at 01:38 AM
Omg, I alway have thought that I was ugly. I have been tolda many many times that I am not. This comic definatly gave me a new perspective. I think i'm BEAUTIFUL! :@)
Posted by: Amanda | Dec 15, 2007 at 11:41 PM
laura - i think you interpreted the comic the wrong way. i didn't see it that she needed makeup to be confident - the whole messages was that, while makeup gave her confidence, it was the confidence that was important rather than the makeup. i dont think it implied at all that you need makeup to be confident in the first place, that was just how this specific girl felt.
i dont know, just the way i interpreted it.
Posted by: sibyl | Dec 15, 2007 at 10:34 PM
Honestly, this comic upset me. I like the message that you are beautiful when you are full of confidence in yourself, but why does the girl have to wear make-up to get the confidence in the first place? Most girls wouldn't really think oh the make-up made me confident, which made people notice me, I don't really need the make-up. They would just think my make-up is getting me noticed and keep piling it on and then not be able to ever be confident without it.
Posted by: Laura | Dec 15, 2007 at 09:55 PM
Wow...
That nearly made me cry. That was the entire reason i started wearing make-up. Though, my friend that never wears make-up has been asked out many times, I never have, so...
Posted by: Dallis | Dec 15, 2007 at 07:20 PM
I guess everytime guys come up to me and talk to me are when I'm not wearing makeup, like at the beach and stuff like that. Maybe natural and no makeup is attractive. Still, it would be extremely hard to stop wearing makeup because I wear it almost everyday...
Posted by: Lizz | Dec 15, 2007 at 06:37 PM
Wow. That was touching. I too am a girl who wears some makeup everyday. I wear foundation and eyeliner but I guess even sometimes that is too much... I hate it though when girls wear like a ton of bright or dark color eyeshadows and lipsticks. It simply looks fake and unattracting. I suggest if you HAVE to wear makeup, it should be not much and just natural tones.
Posted by: Lizz | Dec 15, 2007 at 06:35 PM
It's so true!!! I've been trying to tell some of my friends with lower self-esteems this exact thing, but its so hard to put into words! A lot of girls don't get that guy's don't even notice make-up. They hardly notice pimples or anything either! but they do notice confidence!
Posted by: Simone | Dec 15, 2007 at 04:18 PM
personally, i think the make-up made her look whorish, so it was ALL her confidence and personality that people saw. rachel nabors is awesome!!!!
Posted by: jackie! | Dec 14, 2007 at 10:07 PM
wow .
this totally hit me hard ,
because i'm a girl who HAS to wear makeup everyday ,or i don't feel like i'm pretty at all .
&i'm always trying new things &buying new makeup .
so this one really touched me .
:]

Every week I look forward to Rachel's comics. She brings me up when I'm feeling down!
Posted by: Kristie | Dec 14, 2007 at 12:22 AM
Rachel, you're comics are so true. I never wear make-up unless it is a special occasion. And I have make-upers jealous. lol.
Posted by: Amanda | Dec 13, 2007 at 11:17 PM
That one was great. Rachel's amazing, every week I start getting a little down and I think, "This means I'm due for another Rachel comic!"
Posted by: Sarah | Dec 13, 2007 at 10:16 PM
i really liked this comic because the message is the truth; you don't need make up to be pretty. but most people act like they don't know that and that is really unfortunate.
Posted by: tinker.bella_15 | Dec 13, 2007 at 08:53 PM
Rachel's right. if people stop acting like they're ugly , then they would be beautiful. embrace urself not the makeup ads.
Posted by: allyx | Dec 13, 2007 at 04:56 PM
I liked it, I do use makeup, but I don't make it pop with bright colors, i use light pinks, browns and occasanaly a really sparkly white, nothing special but it can do a whole lot. Girls shouldn't wear brightly colored cosmetics it just takes away from your true beauty makeup can add to that beauty if you wear it right....
Posted by: Angie | Dec 13, 2007 at 04:21 PM
i like the message. but one thing got me down about it. at the end the girl looked more pretty then in the begining.. whats up with that.
also, the character looks really familar, do you notice that alot of your characters look the same. this is not cool.
Posted by: lilly | Dec 13, 2007 at 02:25 PM
Ellie,
I made this comic before Magical Bosom, but they were posted out of sequence for technical reasons.
Anyway, I couldn't make a response THAT quickly :p

Wow, these comics are usually so cheesy, but this was really good. Loves.
Posted by: Tanya | Dec 13, 2007 at 01:01 PM
Im told to be very pretty , but i dont have enough confidence to think so , and im very shy , i wear make up to hide .
But i cant go out of the hosue without wearing make up, i feel like a part of me is left behind.
