Well When This stuff happens you have to get visited by doctors that give you a pap smear and trust me because you can't get certain cancers like some diseases you carry inside you when with your partner at an earlier stage.

The first time i went for a pap it couldn't be done. The doctor said i was too small (I was still a virign at the time, only she didn't believe me... i was 20) It hurt when she was trying to stick the duck bill looking thing in. And I too was walking funny, i couldn't even sit right. But afterwords... it didn't hurt as much on my third time. The second time i cried... the doctor i went to was to uncaring. So i changed doctors and she is better. But yes you need this done... and more when your sexually active.

Great information isis! I got my guidelines from a few women's health sites and my physician, though, not the cancer institute (I wish I'd thought of that, though, d'oh!). Apparently there are different opinions on this topic. (I happen to know a young woman who got cervical cancer at 20, which is very rare and unusual.)

Hello. I liked your comic. Although the information here is a bit inaccurate. According to the national cancer institute, women should get a pap smear at LEAST once every 3 years. Your first time should be three years after you had sexual relations for the first time or at the latest by the time you turn 21. There is no danger in waiting 3 years because cervical cancer develops slowly, and this is to pervent excesive treatment of abnormal changes that are both common and temporary. This type of cancer is uncommon in women under the age of 25. There is more information like going to get it done 10 to 20 days after the first day of your period and other stuff but I guess that is beyond the intention of the comment and this post. I just wanted to clear that up. ^^ Yeah, I had to make a presentation about this so um...yeah, I'm a little obssessed. :P
