this comic isz the BOMB!!! but may i also suggest (considering i'm a professional mover & army brat) that having confidence in yourself helpsz. no matter what crowd you end up in, confidence isz key. Don't you notice the popular kidsz are also the onesz who are most confident. Oh! Lay low & chill your 1st couple daysz. It helpsz you figure out whose-goin-out-with-who & who NOT to hang out with.
TRUST ME i know. i've figured it out after yearsz of research & i've had 7 movesz in 9 skool yearsz to test them. much heartsz *di-di*

I like this comic cos I didn't just move schools, I moved from England to Tenerife, but I've got loads of enlish and spanish friends now. But sometimes I STILL don't even know what my own teacher's saying! :-P

I moved when I was in 6th grade from Pennsylvania to Michigan in January. It stinks!!! On the first day, I was bombarded with questions, as said above ^^. UGHHH. But then the next day, no one talked to me at all. I ate lunch by myself for the next few weeks. And then I was used by a ton of people :[ I didn't make REAL friends until May. I hated it at first, but I love where I am now :]
I think that joining clubs is a GREAT way to meet people. Trying out for school productions is good, too!! But if you're shy like me, You really just need to try & smile, as hard as it is. And maybe ask if you can eat lunch with some people.
Try & get your school involved with Mix It Up! It's a program that helps kids break out of the nasty cliques. During lunch a few days a year, people are just asked to sit with someone other than their normal friends. It's supposed to be a LOT of fun. I TRIED to get my school involved, but the school blew it off. Go for it though!!!
:] Love, Katiee

Hah, great comic.
I remember the anxiety I suffered from when moving in the summer of 9th grade.
Then came 10th grade, I was new.
I remember the random looks I got from previous school-goers and I felt like I didn't belong. Nobody was talking to me.
Finally, a girl ( that pretty much knew everybody in school, thank god ) started to talk to me , therefore introduced me to like half the population. Turns out, people didn't approach me because I looked intimidating.
So,newbies, flash on your best smile.
As for me,
Luck? I think so.
Anyway, that whole first day was spent in great fashion.
I basically spent the day talking with a bunch of people and eventually made some great friends.
I'm in college now and I'm turning eighteen in two months and I'm still friends with people from that highschool.
Everything works out eventually.
Gluck new kids.

This is a good comic, except it doesn't help. I've been to 8 different schools.. and it is hard to be the new kid. But, joining clubs doesn't work, from personal experience, and alot of the kids already have their cliques and friends. They think they don't need new friends. AND popular kids are not the first to attempt to be your friends, actually they are stuck up and don't want to be a new kids friend. I know that as well. I'm not even a loser, I'm normal, but since I'm always new, no one wants to assosiate with me. Espcecially in highschool. But other then your "facts" being false, it was a good comic to look at and read, by entertainment expectations.

To RIVER, WHO MOVED TO ENGLAND:
So did I ? Where did you go? Did u get used to it? Its hard moving schools...belive me! Im at the top of my game with about 12 different schools at my 16 years of age. It gets easier with time, once you start figuring out people and where you feel comftable. Also, if you are in England by now, have you figured out the whole Chav phemonomenon? Hahaha.

i didn't even move out of my city. Just my school. However, all of the people from my old school ignore me and some don't even recognise me! Its so much fun to go " Yeah i was the dorky one at the back." lol to be honest i was glad i moved me because me and my little brother went to diffrent schools from the rest of our sisters and were the smart ones (lol ego-maniacs) also i go to a diffrent high school so i've moved schools twice but had 5 houses. I'm so proud of all the people who have moved countries it must be really weird because you don't know where you are or know anyone.

wow, this comic really helped me calm down, i go to school fer the first day tomorrow. I moved from canada to england. and i'm feeling a little sick about going. I'm really scared i wont make any friends. or maybe i wont be smart enough and fail . i'm in grade 10 here, and i kno how alot of teens can be scarey haha. i'm REALLY nervous, but like i said, ur comic helped to calm me down and now i know what to expect and how to handle it. thank you so much ! i guess knowing i'll be wearing a uniform i wont have to worry about comments on my clothes er something silly like that. so once again , THANKS <3

i moved from fort worth to saginaw and just started my 9th grade year. I was new and i didnt know anyone but then ui started to make friends as i talked more. But now im not sure i actually want to be those peoples friends anymore. So what im saying is when you are the new kid, make sure you choose your friends wisely, because if you dont you may regret it later.
Love All

Lol, break people out of jail club. Retroactively I can relate to the desire to be more of a cheerleader-type than a curser-type. I doubt people who made that choice were enlightened as to the same thought process that lead to it, nevertheless appreciate it from experience.

The popular kids are kind of...over-the-top, for my taste.
I would probably fit into the 'really really angry kids' category in there. xD
Posted by: Skye | Dec 02, 2007 at 03:21 AM
this comic is sooo true. im at my 6th school b/c my family moves way to much. but i dont face everything in the comic like angry people and snobs. thank GOD!!! GREAT COMIC!!!

hey fei, I do know what you mean about untrue rumors that seem to follow you as you move! I lived in germany as a child and when I moved back to the states as a pre-teen, the kids in my class were just learning about WWII...good timing right? For the rest of the year I was known as the "nazi girl" or that my grandfather was hitler...I kid you not. It's rather weird and funny now...but back then not so much--those are strong remarks for kids to make! (but fear not, the next year was much better:)
Posted by: amy_marie | Nov 23, 2007 at 03:53 PM
i loved this comic, i've been to 4 different schools in the past 4 years, and i guess that's what we all go through right? Gotta love life huh? (: Good job on the comic.
Posted by: Luda | Nov 22, 2007 at 07:01 PM
Nice comic :) It's honest and funny too, satire is a nice touch. But the worse is when things from your old school or just plain untrue rumors follow you after you moved. Like the first time I moved kids made fun of me because I had moved from a Catholic School...
Posted by: Fei | Nov 22, 2007 at 12:16 PM
I've never really moved but I'm always the first one to invite someone to sit with us, I'm not overly eager or totally popular, I just know I wouldn't want to sit against the wall and watch everyone else have a good time and enjoy themselves... I've actually made two really good friends by just talking to them and introducing them to my school and my friends.

This is a very good comic. Even though I wasn't new to my high school. I've had a hard time finding my next best friend. Clubs are a pretty good place to start, especially if you're new, but they're not for everyone. Sometimes you just have to rough it with a few good friends, which really isn't bad at all.
Posted by: Yanna | Nov 19, 2007 at 10:03 PM
hii!!!
i moved from Colombia south america to Canada, and it was really sad, when i made friends at my school, i had to move, and when i made new friends, we moved again, and again, im in grade 11 and i have moved 4 times.
it sucks!!!
Posted by: Karol Lopez | Nov 19, 2007 at 05:12 PM
I've been to 9 different schools since I've started. I'm moving again after the holidays, and I'm not happy about it at all. That will be my 3rd high school. The school I'm at now, I have no friends. I tried being social, and I was made fun of for my acne on my forehead. I came home crying for about half the semester. I still get upset. I don't eat lunch because I have no one to sit with. I'm all alone. It sucks that I'm moving again. I hate it. I'm not looking forward to it at all. :( This comic helps, but I've done it so many times, I just don't want to do it anymore.

I stayed within England, but moved from the city to the countryside.
It was awkward at first because I had an accent, I behaved differently and was miles behind the other kids in class. I managed to break my arm on the second day here, which turned out to a positive because everyone seemed to want to ask the new girl what happened to her arm and be her friend.
Once you adjust, it's great making a new start.

I moved from England to New Zealand-Complete other side of the world move. However I was lucky to find friends quickly who took me under their wing.

Hello all! Thanks for reading the comic and leaving great messages! I am so glad so many of you are able to relate, I did move around a lot and the older I got, the harder it got--so this is a comic dear to my heart. It's such a daunting experience, but it definetly has positive outcomes as well. hang in there "new girls" !

wow this is really ture...it wasnt hard joinging a group for me since all of the popular kids and stuff kinda just adopted me into their group but it was kinda hard making close friends inside the group but now everything it going great since ive been going to school with them for almost a year.

ya'll think thats bad try bein a army brat like me we move everywhere ive had like thousands of best friends but when u find those good ones try n keep them cuz then its a reason to visit back to the other state lol i learn that be an army brat
Posted by: mercedes | Nov 16, 2007 at 10:20 PM
This is SO true! I moved a different state to a new school. Then six weeks later went to another school! Then 6 weeks after that my schedule chaned to all new classes.. I'm SICK of being NEW!
Isn't it great being all awkward in the cafeteria or better yet having someone walk in the bathroom when your just about to lose it and start bawling?
haha my daily life as of now
Posted by: Sarah | Nov 16, 2007 at 09:32 PM
OMG . This is exactly how i feel right now.
I changed recently changed city , country , continent and worst of all SCHOOL!
I feel so weird , and sense the people here are so different, i have a hard time fitting in , i have a bunch of "friends" , but i dont very really want to be with them .
Out of a group of 40 people i only like 2 people.
Im really depressed ...but all of that isnt going to make me chnage anything. Populars , Geeks...and how about people that dont belong in either of those two steriotypes...are they called "normal"...?
This high school thing is messing with our brains...and went a little bit extreme.
Posted by: Gaia | Nov 16, 2007 at 08:07 PM
wow I know exactly what thaats like...Im going through that right now...I just moved to a completely different state and everything....it was hard in the beginning...really hard...and it still is hard but Im hopeful that things are gonna get better...It kinda sucks cuz u don't know anyone and Im a junior so its even more difficult to make friends with people because they allready have their own friends so I kinda feel alone sometimes...but I think it will be better soon
Posted by: Tina | Nov 16, 2007 at 07:22 PM
