My relationship is the reverse of that. I take my (adorably) geeky boyfriend to shows with me sometimes, and he's always worried that I'm going to get punched in the face.

I mean, I HAVE gotten punched in the face (and stomach, back, shoulder, etc..... all unintentionally, and the guys who do it always feel horrible and make sure I'm ok) at shows, but it's not something I really think about. It's a show, and if I get a few bruises, it was probably worth it.

But my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy to be this little 5'3" tall girl jumping into pits with my big sweaty male friends. Then again, I'd much rather do that than lean against the wall and try to look 'mysterious' like most female show-goers do.

this defiantly is my boyfriend and his brother. my boyfriend wears glasses and every time he wants to go in i have to go down a check list to make sure he gives me his glasses, ipod, phone, wallet, etc. but i usually end up giving them to his brothers girlfriend and jumping in as fast as i can with him.....i mean at leat im there with him in case he gets a concussion....again....

This comic is essentially true, but I'm that boyfriend. Except I'm the crazy girlfriend. My fiance thinks I'm absolutely insane-- he's this big hulking 6'4" 300 lb man, I'm this tiny 5'2" girl. A show is not a good show unless I have at least one good injury.

The only thing I found odd was his refusal of Hello Kitty-- the most hardcore, punk rock, oi oi dudes I know will proudly wear Hello Kitty, Spongebob, whatever. Then again, we don't really do band aids. Unless it's infected. Then we fix it. Or if it's an open wound and we're on our way to a show-- who wants other people's sweat in our wounds?

But it's not cuz we're hardcore, it's cuz we're lazy. :D

Kiki is obviously not endorsing any the subculture, while her bf calls it a lifestyle she just likes the music and doesn't seem concerned with dressing accordingly. She seems to have her own style (mainstream or nonconformist, it's still her taste)

Anyway that's just my interpretation.
