Hello, just wanted to comment on the so-called "EGL" style.

This term was coined by the amazing Mana-sama(You Rock!) and is NOT the correct term for any type of Lolita. Aslo, I'd like to mention that saying: "My style is Lolita" is incorrect. There are many types of Lolita and usually Lolita don't stick to just one. Examples:

Sweet Lolita
Ouji(One of my styles!)
Wa Lolita
Pirate Lolita
Etc.

Getting back on topic, it shouldn't matter what you have faith in. It's just important that you have faith. So if Rachel's history lesson hit a sensitive spot, don't let it break what you believe in.

i love that this angie chick actually took the time to read rachel's comics and comment on the message board. obviously, since she responded to what people had to say about her, she spent time haunting this blog. maybe she's a closet rachel lover. it's better just to come out and say it angie. besides, rachel is right. most christian holidays have roots in paganism. and contrary to what most people think (especially hollywood), paganism isn't about worshipping the devil. paganism comes from the latin word paganus, which translates into rustic, or country dweller. Country dwellers believed in various religious aspects, unlike Christians.

i love the way Rachel carries out her important message. i heard about the pagan holidays being turned into christian ones b4 but i wasn't actually thinking of the link of a rabbit and an egg representing fertility. I wondered about b4 though, i just couldn't put my finger on it.

I'm Christian and I, for one, thought this was in good taste. I hate wearing a dress on Easter, with pastel colors and flowers. I thought it was amusing and appropriate. Also, the information was historically accurate except we had these holidays independent from the pagan ones, we just decided to have our celebrations on the same day because that would avoid persecution. (In the early centuries, Christians were heavily persecuted.)

Being Christian, this doesn't really offend me.
I always knew that Easter and Halloween were based off of pagan rituals, and I knew that Rachel is anti-Christian at times and noticed how she mocked Christians in a subtle way...

But still, she's right. Easter does have pagan roots. That's why Christains do not associate Easter with the Easter bunny as the pagans did but with Jesus Christ.

It's all things from the pagan holiday celebrating the first day of spring. The rabbit and eggs are symbols of fertility and the Goddess. So originally, "Easter" was Ostara/Spring Equinox and therefore had nothing to do with Jesus. The fact that the dates coincide was mostly likely a conscious decision by the church so as to not upset the Pagans they were trying to convert. Same thing happened with Yule/Christmas.

I would like to point out that you are exhibiting why people hate Christians. If you act like a loutish person people will generalize the religion, I am proud to be Christian, but I am not proud when other Christians act so rudely to people who don't hold Christian beliefs.

It's a bit unfair for people to be offended simply because someone is telling the truth. If you can't deal with the truth of things, by all means, go back to living in ignorance.
